Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for the providing pharmacy services to client/patient of the company. Reports to the pharmacy manager.
Responsibilities shall include:
- Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner in all job-related interactions.
- Ensure pharmaceuticals are accurately compounded or dispensed in accordance with pharmacy protocols and physicians’ orders.
- Provide pharmacy counseling as needed.
- Communicate with medical professionals with regard to client patient status and response to medication, and when necessary, to resolve client/patient issues.
- Interact with pharmaceutical manufacture representatives as needed to maintain current knowledge of pharmaceutical product and to manage changes to formularies.
- Assume on-call responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines.
- Report product incidents as required in accordance with company policy.
- Supervise the activities of pharmacy technicians and other department personnel.
- Delegate authority as necessary to ensure that all responsibilities of this position are fulfilled in a timely and accurate manner.
- Direct and participate in company committees when requested.
- Pursue continuing education programs appropriate to job responsibilities.
- Promote a positive work climate and team-building atmosphere within the company, Encourage effective communication within the organization concerning human recourses matters, and focus on staff retention.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all laws, and regulations; ensure that the department meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement "best practice" in all departmental activities.
- Ability to organize and plan the activities of subordinates and to delegate appropriately.
- Must be able to compound IV medications.
Education and/or Qualifications required include:
- Texas State Board of Pharmacy License.
- IV Certification.
- MTM, CPR, Vaccination Certifications.
- Current knowledge of all applicable state, local, and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
Physical and Environmental requirements:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
