AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong energy and technical grid compliance background that enables them to engage with both internal business partners and external energy stakeholders. They will demonstrate an ability to think strategically about our business, our technical challenges and have a skill set to drive tactical execution of contracts, energy initiatives and team goals. By establishing and growing business and technical relationships, and managing the day-to-day interactions with these partners, you will be responsible for meeting the energy team objectives to support AWS's infrastructure expansion in Melbourne.

This role is based in Melbourne. 10% travel may be required.

  • Managing utility contracts/retail agreements – entering into connection agreement; contracting the right capacity to optimize on power purchase costs.
  • Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives, with a focus on evolving Australian grid code requirements and technical standards.
  • Manage technical grid compliance activities for data center connections across the portfolio, working with utilities and regulators to ensure timely grid compliance.
  • Study, understand and maintain a current view on the Australian power infrastructure network, NEM regulatory changes, and utility planning relevant to data center connections.
