Sport Signage are looking for a Estimating & Procurement Manager to join our Commercial, Estimating & Procurement team.

The Estimating & Procurement Manager builds robust, well-informed estimates and coordinates procurement inputs for Sport Signage projects, with Formula 1 as the primary workload.

The role brings together scope, design/technical information, supplier quotations, labour/resource assumptions and operational inputs into a clear costed estimate before review by the Commercial Director and Director of Operations.

The role is intended to reduce dependence on the Director of Operations as the person creating initial estimates; Operations should review and challenge a developed output rather than provide the starting point.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  1. Estimate Development: Translate approved/working scope into a structured estimate covering materials, labour, plant, logistics, rentals, suppliers, design/technical needs and other relevant cost elements. Document key assumptions, exclusions, quantities, rates and dependencies so reviewers can understand the basis of the estimate. Identify missing scope or cost information and drive clarification before the estimate is treated as complete.
  2. Operational & Technical Input: Obtain appropriate input from the Director of Operations/Operations Managers for labour, methodology, equipment and event assumptions. Work with Head of Design and Technical-CAD on materials, buildability, fabrication/installation details and technical complexity. Convert specialist input into a coherent estimate rather than passing disconnected inputs to the Commercial Director.
  3. Supplier Quotations & Procurement: Source/coordinate supplier quotations within approved procurement processes. Compare scope, price, lead time, quality, capacity and commercial terms and flag gaps or inconsistencies. Maintain clear supplier quote records and ensure procurement assumptions match the estimate.
  4. Review & Approval Readiness: Prepare estimates in a consistent format and ensure material cost drivers, risks, contingencies/allowances and exclusions are visible. Coordinate operational review with Jurgen/Operations and commercial review with the Commercial Director. Update estimates following agreed review comments while retaining version control.
  5. Procurement Execution Support: Following project approval, support or coordinate supplier purchase requirements, confirmation of scope and delivery dates within delegated processes. Ensure material changes in supplier price or availability are communicated promptly to Commercial and Operations.
  6. Scope Changes & Re-Estimates: Provide timely cost assessment for client changes, revised designs or delivery-method changes. Maintain traceability between original estimate, approved change and current commercial position.
  7. Cost Knowledge & Feedback: Maintain useful cost knowledge, supplier history and recurring project cost information where available. Use completed-project feedback to improve future assumptions and identify areas where estimates consistently differ from delivery reality.
  8. Process Improvement: Standardise estimating templates, quote-request packs and review checkpoints. Reduce duplicated effort and create faster, more reliable estimate turnaround without sacrificing quality.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED:

  • Strong estimating experience within signage, live events, fabrication, temporary structures, construction, experiential or a comparable project-based industry.
  • Good practical understanding of materials, labour, plant, logistics and supplier cost drivers.
  • Experience obtaining and comparing supplier quotations and supporting procurement decisions.
  • Ability to challenge incomplete briefs and build structured estimates from complex scopes.
  • Motorsport/F1 experience is highly advantageous.
  • Cost estimating and cost build-up.
  • Procurement and supplier comparison.
  • Scope analysis and basis-of-estimate documentation.
  • Commercial and operational awareness.
  • Spreadsheet/estimating-system discipline.
  • Cross-functional coordination and numerical accuracy.
